Factory Resetting and Re‑Enrolling a Kevo Plus Gateway
Overview
A factory reset of the Kevo Plus gateway is required if remote lock control is not working or if the gateway needs to be re‑paired to your Kevo account. This process clears the gateway’s configuration, updates its firmware, and prepares it for pairing again.
⚠️ This process is timing‑sensitive. Follow the steps exactly and do not skip any steps. Skipping steps or moving too quickly can cause the reset or pairing process to fail.
When a Factory Reset Is Needed
You may need to factory reset the Kevo Plus gateway if:
- Remote lock/unlock is not working
- The gateway will not come online
- The gateway is stuck during pairing
- Support has instructed you to reset and re‑enroll the gateway
Before You Begin
Confirm the following before starting:
- The Kevo Plus gateway is plugged in and powered on
- The gateway is connected to your home network
- The Bluetooth antenna is securely attached
- You are signed into the Kevo app as the Owner of the locks
Important: Only the Owner of the locks can add or re‑enroll a Kevo Plus gateway. Admin or Anytime users cannot complete this process.
Step 1: Factory Reset the Kevo Plus Gateway
- Locate the reset hole next to the antenna on the Kevo Plus.
- Insert a SIM tool or paper clip into the hole to press the reset button.
- Release the button and allow the gateway to begin the reset process.
Step 2: Wait for Firmware Update to Complete
After the reset:
- The gateway will download and install a firmware update automatically.
- The LED ring will show pulsing amber during this process.

❗ Not waiting the full 30 minutes is the most common reason this process fails.
Step 3: Confirm Gateway Is Ready
After the reset and firmware update:
- The LED ring should be pulsing white
If the LED is not pulsing white:
- Repeat the factory reset starting from Step 1
Step 4: Remove Power from Gateway

- Leave it unplugged until instructed to reconnect it during pairing.
This step is critical for the pairing process to work correctly.

- Tap + to pair a device.
- Select your lock brand:
- Kwikset

Step 6: Confirm Successful Pairing
During pairing:
- Magenta LED — searching for locks in your account
