Factory resetting your Kevo 2st Generation lock is a last resort for trying to get the lock operational again. It can be a bit tricky to do, so watch the demonstration video on YouTube (using a Kevo 2nd Generation lock) and pay very close attention to the instructions and do each step EXACTLY as described:
- Start by removing the battery pack.
- Press the Program button on the back of the lock 2-3 times.
- Press and hold the RESET and CALIBRATE buttons on the back of the lock.
- While pressing and holding the RESET and CALIBRATE buttons, insert the battery pack and wait for a full 12-seconds.
- Release the RESET and CALIBRATE buttons.
- If you have triggered the Factory Reset correctly, the lock will beep and after several seconds the front LED ring/bar will cycle (see NOTE). If that does not happen, start over with step 1.
- When the front LEDs stop, the factory reset has completed.
- Using the Kevo mobile app, tap on the + to add your lock back to your account. Use a new lock name if you did not delete your troublesome lock from your account already.
- When prompted, complete the software update for the lock.
- From the lock dashboard, perform lock / unlock operation to confirm the lock is functioning correctly. If locking and unlocking are not working and/or the Kevo app reports a "bolt jam" error, re-handing the lock is required.
- Re-send eKeys to any users who had access to the lock in the past.
NOTE: If the exterior LED ring/bar consistently does nothing in step 6, it’s likely that you are not pressing the RESET and CALIBRATE buttons fully. If you are doing it correctly, but the factory reset does not start, this confirms a deeper electronics board or connection failure.
